Explore Lancaster County With Us

We think you’ll love Lancaster County

as much as we do

With over a century of Lancaster County roots, there’s no doubt that our family loves this place. It’s a unique mix of old and new, where one can admire the simple beauty of the surrounding farmland and enjoy the hip urban vibe of Lancaster City. Whether you love the country or city or some of both, you’ll find lots to do.

So where should you start? We’ll highlight a few guest-favorites below, but this is only a sampling of what you’ll find in our area. Take a buggy ride, check out a country market, or visit a popular historic site. Amble through an art museum, catch a show, or go shopping. And if you have kids, well, look no further because they won’t be bored (we know, because we’ve got a whole crew of little ones).

For train enthusiasts of all ages

Most travelers who come to our area include a visit to the Strasburg Railroad, where guests of all ages can enjoy a steam train ride through Pennsylvania farmlands. And if this piques your interest, check out the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, the National Toy Train Museum or Choo Choo Barn right down the road.

Catch a show!

If you’d like to take in a spectacular show, Sight & Sound Theatres is the largest faith-based live theatre in the country and it’s only a mile down the road! Every time the cast steps onto the stage, they fill audiences with wonder—all with the help of cutting-edge special effects, massive sets, and even live animals. Or check out the nearby American Music Theatre for broadway acts, concerts, and comedy shows. Another great option is the Fulton Opera House, Central Pennsylvania’s premier regional theatre and a national historic landmark. Here, amidst the grandeur of Victorian architecture, you’ll experience Broadway caliber musicals, comedies and dramas.

Fun for the kids

Dutch Wonderland is our favorite local amusement park for the younger set—dubbed “a kingdom for kids.” Nearby Hersheypark offers kiddie rides, breathtaking rollercoasters, and a water park. For a truly local experience, visit Cherry Crest Adventure Farm where families can play and learn together on an operating farm. Kids will be delighted by the corn maze, live animals, hay chute slide and more!

Downtown Lancaster City

Spend a day (or a few) here, visiting restaurants, museums, historic sites and local shops. Don’t miss Lancaster Central Market, the country’s oldest farmers market which occupies a beautiful 120-year-old building. Grab lunch to-go while checking out over 60 unique stands full of fresh produce and local foods.

Go Shopping!

For unique, locally-owned shops, swing by Main Street Strasburg on your way to check out Lititz, PA or Lancaster City. If you’re looking for the Pennsylvania Dutch Experience, try the Kitchen Kettle Village in Intercourse, PA which offers over 40 local shops in one outdoor village! And if you’re looking for a bargain, you’ll enjoy a visit to nearby Tanger Outlets.

The decor was warm and welcoming and everyone was helpful and friendly. Breakfast at the Speckled Hen across the street was an unexpected bonus! The owners have reinvented what a motel can be. We will be returning to stay again.

The Carriage House is so comfortable and welcoming. The owners and employees are the best I've ever encountered while traveling. The motel is spotless and quiet. Peaceful! I can't say enough good things about this place. When I finish this review I'll be booking our third visit.
